The story of WESSO

WESSO AG was founded in 1986 by Heimo Wessollek known as WESSOCLEAN Wasserhygiene GmbH. The original focus of the company was the removal of mineral and biological deposits in service water wells. Great importance was already attached at that time to the use of environmentally friendly and material‐friendly active substances in product development. Well owners and private operators of water heat pump systems can regenerate their wells easily and cost‐effectively on their own.

Through close cooperation with universities and industry partners, the products were soon used in other water systems ‐ from agricultural irrigation systems to industrial water circuits. The product range was expanded step by step to include solutions for the specific needs of customers in various industries.

WESSO Air Hygiene was developed in the early 1990s to reduce germ contamination in indoor areas. After several years of extensive testing with various application techniques and with the help of practical long‐term studies, WESSO Air Hygiene was also further developed in the food hygiene. Thanks to our partners, the use of air hygiene in the meat industry, the dairy industry, the beverage industry, fruit and vegetable processing and storage is now an integral part of the processing chain in many companies in Europe.

In cooperation with BIO‐CLEAN B.V., WESSO has developed a gentle alternative to common hazardous substances used as room disinfectants in closed production facilities in the field of animal production and farming. The aim is to reduce harmful micro‐organisms on surfaces that can cause illness and spoil products, to dissipate completely and without any side‐effects once the disinfectant has taken effect. WESSO Hatching Egg Disinfection has been tested in innovative hatcheries in the Netherlands and Germany and is currently in the REACH process.
